Step Into Swim Returns to NBC’s TODAY Show to Highlight Water Safety and Swim Education
Step Into Swim will be featured on NBC’s TODAY Show on May 20 between 9 and 9:30 a.m. in every time zone, marking the fifth consecutive year the organization has appeared on the national program to promote swim education and drowning prevention.
The segment will feature Olympic athletes including Bobby Finke, Kate Douglass and Rowdy Gaines, who will discuss the importance of swim lessons and water safety awareness.
The national spotlight comes as local organizations continue expanding access to swim education for families facing financial barriers. In Manatee County, Big Dreams Through Small Steps recently launched the second year of its AQUAlibrium Drowning Prevention Program in partnership with Step Into Swim.
The program helps provide swim lesson opportunities for children from families with financial need as well as children in the foster care system. Organizers said the response from local families has been significant following the program’s relaunch during Water Safety Month in May.
The initiative was created to increase access to life-saving swim instruction and reduce drowning risks among young children, particularly in communities where lessons may otherwise be financially out of reach.
The TODAY Show feature is expected to further raise awareness about drowning prevention efforts and the growing need for accessible swim education programs nationwide.
