Step Up Suncoast Seeks Volunteers for 2025 VITA Tax Assistance Program
Step Up Suncoast is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming tax season as part of its longstanding Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which provides free tax preparation services to low- and moderate-income residents across Manatee County. The program, operated in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service for more than 50 years, offers multiple site locations staffed by trained community volunteers.
VITA volunteers help individuals and families claim the full tax credits they qualify for, returning more than $1 million annually to the community. Opportunities are available for greeters, tax preparers, reviewers, and site coordinators, and both first-time volunteers and those with prior tax experience are encouraged to participate. Free IRS-certified training is provided, along with flexible volunteer hours from January through April, and year-round opportunities at the organization’s central location.
The program highlights several benefits for volunteers, including building professional skills, earning CEU credits, meeting new people, and making a meaningful impact on local families. Volunteers play a key role in helping taxpayers navigate the filing process and retain crucial financial resources.
