Sterling Ties Franchise Record 11 Strikeouts, Marauders Shutout by Flying Tigers
Salcedo notches 2.0 scoreless innings, Reeder snags multi-hit game
Levi Sterling tied Jared Jones and Luis Ortiz for the most strikeouts in a single game with 11 during the Bradenton Marauders (16-28, 47-62) 3-0 shutout loss to the Lakeland Flying Tigers (20-23, 51-57) on Thursday from Publix Field. Yeraldo Salcedo tossed 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, while Canon Reeder secured a multi-hit game.
In the bottom of the second, Enderson Delgado drove in two runs with a base hit to put Lakeland up 2-0.
Despite allowing another run in the bottom of the fifth, Sterling ended his night with six straight strikeouts to notch the team season-high record of 11.
Bradenton was shutout the rest of the way to finalize a 3-0 win for Lakeland.
Cale Wetwiska (2-0) notched the win, allowing five hits with four walks and three strikeouts over 5.0 scoreless innings. Sterling (4-6) took the loss, letting up three runs on three hits, two walks, and 11 strikeouts over 6.0 frames.
The Marauders and Flying Tigers play game four of a six-game series on Friday with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
