Structural Collapse Forces Evacuation of 157 Residents at Bradenton Assisted Living Facility
A major emergency response remains underway after a significant structural collapse at Aviata at Bradenton Villas in Bradenton forced the evacuation of approximately 157 residents.
Manatee County Public Safety and Emergency Medical Services, in coordination with the Bradenton Fire Department, the City of Bradenton, the Bradenton Police Department and regional partners, are overseeing the evacuation and relocation of residents from the assisted living facility.
Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene to assist residents and ensure they could be safely removed from the building. Transportation to alternate accommodations is being arranged for everyone affected.
Because of the large-scale relocation effort, emergency agencies in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties have provided additional transportation resources, including ambulances and accessible transit vehicles, to help move residents safely.
Bradenton Police officers are assisting with traffic control in the area while emergency operations continue.
Manatee County Commissioner Amanda Ballard praised the coordinated response by local and regional agencies.
Ballard said the county’s top priority is ensuring every resident is safely relocated and cared for during what is undoubtedly a difficult and disruptive situation. She also expressed gratitude to Manatee County Public Safety, the Bradenton Fire Department and regional partners for responding quickly to assist residents and their families.
Officials reported that no injuries have been reported as a result of the structural collapse.
Public safety personnel and representatives from the facility continue coordinating the relocation process, and officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
