Students Invited to Participate in 2026 Bike to School Day Poster Contest
Students across the region are invited to take part in the 2026 Bike to School Day Poster Contest, an annual event celebrating safe walking, biking, and rolling to school. International Bike to School Day will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with contest submissions due by Friday, March 13, 2026.
The contest encourages students in kindergarten through eighth grade to create original artwork highlighting key bike and scooter safety practices. The theme focuses on following the rules of the road, wearing a properly fitted helmet, and staying visible and alert to drivers. Any bike or scooter riders shown in the artwork must be wearing a helmet.
Before creating their posters, students are asked to review age-appropriate bicycle safety videos and an e-bike safety flyer that explains the safe use of electric micromobility devices such as e-bikes, scooters, and skateboards. The materials emphasize helmet use, visibility, speed awareness, and understanding traffic laws, especially as electric devices become more common among youth.
All art media are accepted, though submissions must be in a horizontal format. Digital entries only will be accepted, with each school allowed to submit up to two posters. Entries must not include student names, school names, photographs of people, or copyrighted images, and each submission must include required consent and contact forms.
Three elementary and three middle school winners will be selected in each county, with their artwork recognized and celebrated for promoting safe travel habits. The contest is supported by safety education efforts from organizations, including Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Safe Kids Florida Suncoast.
Completed entries should be submitted via email by the March 13 deadline. Contact your local school for more information.
