SunCoast Blood Centers is calling on O-negative blood donors to help replenish critically low local supplies, emphasizing the urgent need for donations to support patients facing medical emergencies.
From October 14–18, 2026, successful O-negative whole blood donors will receive a $40 instant e-gift card, while successful O-negative Power Red donors will receive a $50 instant e-gift card.
O-negative blood is especially valuable because its red blood cells can be transfused to patients of any blood type. This makes it essential in trauma situations and other emergencies when medical teams may not have time to determine a patient’s blood type.
Power Red donations allow eligible donors to give a concentrated donation of red blood cells while having other blood components returned to their bodies. These donations help hospitals maintain supplies for patients with critical needs.
SunCoast Blood Centers encourages eligible O-negative donors to schedule an appointment during the five-day campaign. Walk-ins are also welcome.
