SunCoast Blood Centers Welcomes Three New Members to Board of Directors
SunCoast Blood Centers (SCBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Larry C. Franzoi Jr., David B. Heedy, and Scott H. Buker. Each brings extensive expertise and leadership that will support SCBC’s mission to provide a safe and reliable blood supply for local hospitals and patients across Southwest Florida.
Scott H. Buker joins the board with more than 45 years of experience in the transfusion medicine industry. Mr. Buker retired on April 1, 2026 as VP of National Accounts for Cerus and held positions as Executive Director of Strategic Accounts for the American Red Cross, as well as several senior positions within transfusion medicine. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in advancing blood safety technologies, strengthening strategic blood center partnerships with hospitals, and supporting blood centers nationwide with the adoption of Pathogen Inactivated technologies. His deep understanding and experience in blood banking will help guide SunCoast’s continued growth and commitment to blood safety.
Larry C. Franzoi Jr. brings more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including experience supporting healthcare systems and blood banking-related services with QualTex Laboratories. Mr. Franzoi was the Sr. Director of Transfusion Sales at Pall Medical and Sr. Area Sales Director at the American Red Cross. His background in strategic planning, donor testing, and business development will contribute to strengthening SunCoast’s operational reach and community impact.
David B. Heedy, a partner at Shumaker, adds valuable expertise in corporate law, tax strategy, corporate governance, and mergers & acquisitions. He also works with nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, bringing an important perspective to support SunCoast’s long-term sustainability and strategic direction.
