SWAT Team Operation in Palmetto Ends With Arrest

A section of Cypress Pond Estates was blocked off on Wednesday evening as the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed a warrant for a man wanted on a probation violation related to a previous domestic battery charge.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies began attempting to communicate with the suspect inside the home around 3:30 p.m. in the neighborhood off Ellenton Gillette Road. Nearby residents reported that streets were closed and a strong law enforcement presence remained in the area for several hours.

The standoff concluded shortly before 11 p.m. when deputies took 45-year-old Kevin L. Washington into custody without further incident.

Authorities reported no injuries during the operation, and the area was reopened later that night.
