Teaching Kids to Fish Program Seeks Sponsors and Volunteers for Youth Fishing Event in Palmetto
T3F Inc.’s Teaching Kids to Fish program is looking for sponsors, mentors and volunteers to help introduce local children to the sport of fishing during a community event scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15.
The free hands-on fishing experience will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Green Bridge Fishing Pier in Palmetto. Organizers hope to give children the opportunity to learn basic fishing skills, spend time on the water and create lasting memories while building confidence and an appreciation for Tampa Bay.
The program is seeking financial sponsors to help cover the cost of fishing rods, tackle, bait, food, supplies and other event expenses. Prize donors are also needed to provide fishing gear, gift cards and kid-friendly giveaway items. In addition, experienced anglers are encouraged to volunteer as mentors to teach basic fishing techniques, promote pier safety and assist children throughout the event.
Participants will spend the day learning from experienced fishermen, putting their new skills into practice with hands-on guidance and celebrating their accomplishments with prizes and recognition.
Organizers say the program is about much more than catching fish. The event is designed to teach patience, confidence, self-reliance and respect for the area’s natural resources while helping create positive experiences for local youth.
The Teaching Kids to Fish event is presented by T3F Inc. in partnership with Skyway Bait & Tackle. Individuals and businesses interested in becoming sponsors or volunteering can contact Kirk or Eric at Skyway Bait & Tackle by calling 941-724-8006 or emailing info@skywaybait.com.
