Students at Team Success: A School of Excellence are exploring careers in aviation through a new partnership with Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and Cirrus Aviation.
The Bradenton charter school added an aviation elective to its STEM program for students in grades six through 12 for the 2026-27 school year. The course combines classroom instruction with visits to the airport and introduces students to careers throughout the aviation industry.
Team Success, which serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade, has a campus adjacent to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and Cirrus Aviation’s base of operations.
The partnership began taking shape during the 2025-26 school year, when airport and Cirrus Aviation representatives visited the school. Students also toured aviation facilities, and a Delta Air Lines pilot participated in a question-and-answer session.
The new Intro to Aviation curriculum is divided into four phases.
Students begin with aviation history, aircraft types, aerodynamics, aircraft components and instruments, and career pathways. Later lessons cover airport infrastructure, airline operations, security, airport marketing and business.
The program also introduces students to airspace systems, air traffic control, aviation weather and military aviation before moving into aircraft maintenance, rescue and firefighting operations, ground handling and logistics.
The inaugural program will continue throughout the 2026-27 school year, with students visiting Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport to learn firsthand about airport operations and aviation career opportunities.
