Teen Suffers Serious Injuries in Anna Maria Golf Cart Accident
ANNA MARIA — A 15-year-old girl sustained traumatic head and chest injuries after being ejected from a golf cart at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Spring Avenue around 7:45 p.m. last night.
West Manatee Fire Rescue (WMFR) personnel responded to the scene and found the teen lying on her side in front of the golf cart. According to emergency responders, the vehicle showed no visible damage.
Initial reports indicate the driver of the golf cart, also a teenager, was traveling at approximately 5 to 10 mph when she attempted a turn. During the maneuver, the passenger reportedly rolled out of the vehicle and struck the pavement.
The injured teen was conscious but struggling to breathe and spitting up blood when first responders arrived. Emergency crews quickly stabilized her, securing her airway and preparing her for transport.
She was placed on a backboard and stretcher, then transferred to an ambulance where paramedics established IV access and prepared for intubation. The patient was sedated and intubated before being transported to the helicopter landing zone at City Field in Holmes Beach.
Aeromed flight personnel took over care and airlifted the teen to Tampa General Hospital for further treatment. No additional details about her current condition have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
