Terzaghi Scores on Debut as Sarasota Paradise Shuts Out First-Place Union Omaha 2-0
Sarasota Paradise earned one of its biggest victories of the season Saturday night, defeating first-place Union Omaha 2-0 at Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch.
The match marked the Sarasota debut of forward Emiliano Terzaghi, and the decorated striker wasted little time making an impact. In his first appearance for the club, Terzaghi scored his first goal in Paradise colors to give Sarasota an early advantage. Anderson Rosa later added a second goal to secure the victory and hand Union Omaha a road defeat.
Terzaghi joined Sarasota Paradise just one day before the match after signing with the club from Portland Hearts of Pine. The Argentine forward arrives with an impressive resume as a three-time USL League One Most Valuable Player, three-time Golden Boot winner and the league’s all-time leading scorer with 62 regular-season goals. His signing reunited him with Sarasota Paradise Head Coach Mika Elovaara, who previously worked with him during their time with the Richmond Kickers.
Rosa, a defender who joined Sarasota Paradise ahead of the club’s inaugural USL League One season, doubled the lead with Sarasota’s second goal of the night. His contribution helped the club record a clean sheet against one of the league’s top teams.
The victory came in the first-ever meeting between Sarasota Paradise and Union Omaha and provided a significant boost for the expansion club as it continues its inaugural season in professional soccer. Sarasota improved its standing with a statement win over the league leaders while showcasing both a newly acquired scoring threat in Terzaghi and contributions throughout the lineup.
