The Fudge Factory Reopens on Thanksgiving After Hurricane Helene Devastation
Nearly two months after Hurricane Helene’s storm surge wreaked havoc on Bradenton Beach, The Fudge Factory is celebrating a grand reopening on Thanksgiving Day.
The beloved candy shop on Bridge Street welcomes back customers and employees after a remarkable recovery effort. The shop was inundated in late September with nearly five feet of water, destroying inventory, equipment, and fixtures—the damage forced owner Benjamin Kaminecki to embark on a complete rebuild of the business.
From sinks and cabinets to showcases and booths, every detail of the store is now brand new. Despite the challenges, Kaminecki and his team worked tirelessly to revive the shop in time for the holiday season, ensuring that local traditions remained intact.
The reopening also marks the return of a cherished family tradition: handmade candy canes crafted in the store using a 125-year-old recipe. Beginning in December, customers can once again watch the process unfold from start to finish, a highlight of the festive season for many.
The Fudge Factory's recovery is a beacon of hope for Bradenton Beach as it continues to rebuild from Hurricane Helene’s devastation. The Siesta Key location of The Fudge Factory will also reopen on Thanksgiving, providing sweet treats and a sense of normalcy to residents and visitors alike.
The Fudge Factory Anna Maria is at 117 Bridge St, Bradenton Beach, FL 34217.
