The Salvation Army of Manatee County Invites Community to Go “Over the Edge” for a Cause
The Salvation Army of Manatee County is thrilled to announce its upcoming, First Annual “Over the Edge” event, a unique fundraiser where brave and courageous participants rappel down the side of the Beautiful Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa to support child hunger, shelter, and families experiencing homelessness in our community. This safe, fun, and exhilarating event challenges thrill-seekers and compassionate supporters alike to conquer their fears and make a tangible difference in the lives of homeless children. Our goal is to raise $100,000.
What is “Over the Edge”?
This signature event partners with “Over the Edge,” a professional rappelling company, allowing individuals to rappel 92 feet down a building in exchange for raising a minimum donation $1,000 for The Salvation Army of Manatee County’s homeless children & family shelter. This is a peer-to-peer type fundraiser. You can get support from your family, friends, co-workers, and others to donate. You will get to create your own webpage with your photo and other info to send to potential donors & sponsors.

Why It Matters:
“Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting our operations of our children & family homeless shelter, where we average between 30-40 children of all ages and their families, and vital programs like providing meals, housing, clothing, and Pathway of Hope program,” said Deral Pitts, Community Relations & Development Director. “It’s more than just an adrenaline rush; it’s a powerful statement of community support and a chance to offer hope and a path forward for our young neighbors and families in need.”
