Tragic Accident Claims Life of Horse, Leaves Others Injured in Bradenton
A devastating accident on State Route 70 Friday night resulted in the death of one horse and injuries to seven others when a trailer transporting them was struck by another vehicle. Two individuals accompanying the trailer sustained serious injuries, one requiring surgery, in what has been described as a catastrophic event.
The horses, belonging to Florida Beach Horses, a popular horseback riding center in Bradenton, had just completed their beach rides for the day. The impact of the crash reportedly caused the trailer to overturn, leading to fatal injuries for one horse named Hoss and leaving others with severe fractures and trauma.
Among the injured animals, a horse named Sparkles suffered extensive injuries, including fractures to her back legs and head. Veterinary bills for her treatment have already reached $10,000, highlighting the scale of the tragedy.
The riding center has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for medical expenses, including veterinary care, surgeries, and rehabilitation for the horses, as well as medical and recovery costs for the injured individuals. As of Saturday morning, donations had surpassed $16,000.
Florida Beach Horses, known for rescuing and rehabilitating animals, faces an immense emotional and financial burden in the aftermath of this tragic event. The organization is seeking community support to ensure the recovery of the injured horses and individuals, as well as to cover burial expenses for Hoss.
