UF/IFAS to Offer Fall Vegetable Gardening Series in Manatee County
Residents looking to expand their gardening skills this fall will have the opportunity to learn from horticulture experts during the Fall Vegetable Gardening Series hosted by the UF/IFAS Extension Manatee County Agriculture & Extension Service.
The series is designed for gardeners of all experience levels and features research-based instruction on a variety of topics, including vegetable gardening, plant nutrition, common garden insects, vegetable diseases and seed saving.
The schedule includes:
July 23: Vegetable Gardening – $10 plus registration fees, includes six vegetable starts to take home.
Aug. 20: Plant Food 101 – Free.
Sept. 17: Garden Bugs – Free.
Oct. 15: Vegetable Diseases – Free.
Nov. 12: Seed Saving – Free.
All classes will be held at the Manatee County Agriculture & Extension Service office. The introductory Vegetable Gardening class is the only session with a registration fee and provides participants with six vegetable plants to help them get started with their own gardens.
The series will be taught by UF/IFAS Extension professionals and focuses on practical, science-based gardening techniques to help residents grow healthier and more productive vegetable gardens.
