Underage Alcohol Sales Operation Leads to Multiple Violations in Manatee County
An undercover operation conducted by Manatee County Sheriff’s detectives and Drug Free Manatee on Saturday, Dec. 21, revealed widespread violations of underage alcohol sales laws across the county. Working alongside undercover officers, teenage informants visited 46 establishments to test compliance with state alcohol regulations.
During the operation, clerks at 12 locations were issued Notices to Appear for selling alcohol to minors. The targeted businesses spanned a wide area, with violations occurring at gas stations, convenience stores, and liquor shops.
The following establishments were cited for selling alcohol to underage informants:
- Mobil Gas, 6290 Lake Osprey Dr., Sarasota
- Circle K, 3312 53rd Ave E., Bradenton
- 7-11, 2712 26th Ave E., Bradenton
- BP Gas, 2790 Manatee Ave, Bradenton
- 7-11, 2604 53rd Ave W., Bradenton
- Ray’s Mart, 5402 26th St W., Bradenton
- Manatee Market, 5105 Manatee Ave W., Bradenton
- Chevron, 6724 Manatee Ave W., Bradenton
- Sandra Express Mart, 7105 15th Ave NW., Bradenton
- Bradenton Beach Liquor, 4336 101st St W., Bradenton
- Marathon, 2927 Cortez Rd W., Bradenton
- 7-11, 3515 53rd Ave W., Bradenton
Under Florida law, selling or serving alcohol to individuals under 21 is a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a fine of up to $500. Additionally, underage possession or consumption of alcohol is a criminal offense that can result in jail time, probation, and a permanent criminal record.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of local authorities to combat underage drinking and ensure compliance with state alcohol laws.
