Vehicle Launches Off 20th Street East, Driver Escapes Serious Injury
A woman in her 50s escaped serious injury after her vehicle became airborne and crashed into a boat lift along Riverside Drive on Monday evening, according to authorities.
The crash occurred when the vehicle, believed to be traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour, left the roadway on 20th Street East at Riverside Drive. The car left the road and struck a wooden pole supporting a boat lift, breaking it in half upon impact.
When officers arrived on scene, the driver had partially crawled through the windshield. Personnel from the Bradenton Police Department and the Bradenton Fire Department worked together to safely remove the woman from the vehicle and secure the nearby boat involved in the collision.
Officials reported that the driver showed no signs of impairment at the time of the crash. She was evaluated at the scene, and no serious injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
