Venice Man Arrested in Connection With Disappearance and Death of Bradenton Woman
The Venice Police Department announced the arrest of 75-year-old Ronald Chester Racki in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Laikyn Marie West, who was reported missing in September 2024.
West was reported missing to the Bradenton Police Department on September 16, 2024. According to investigators, her housemate told officers that West left their home on September 13 after being picked up in a white sedan. She did not return and later missed a scheduled out-of-state flight, raising concerns that led to the missing person report.
During the course of the investigation, Bradenton detectives developed information that led them to Racki, a Venice resident. In December 2024, the Bradenton Police Department initiated a joint investigation with the Venice Police Department. The investigation has also involved support from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Office of the State Attorney, 12th Judicial Circuit.
Authorities confirmed that despite Racki’s arrest, West remains missing. Law enforcement agencies continue investigative efforts and are asking the public for assistance.
Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Sarasota County Crime Stoppers at 941-366-8477. Officials emphasize that even small details could be critical in helping bring answers to West’s family.
