Volunteers Needed for Next Camp Flying Eagle Cleanup on February 22
Bradenton, FL – Camp Flying Eagle is making significant strides toward reopening after suffering extensive hurricane damage. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and ongoing cleanup efforts, much of the debris has been removed, bringing the camp closer to full operational status for local Scouts.
Since the storm, numerous trucks have hauled away tons of tree debris, clearing large sections of the property. However, smaller debris remains scattered throughout the camp, and additional hands are needed to assist with the final cleanup phase. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the next scheduled cleanup on February 22, 2025, starting at 8 a.m.
While progress has been steady, some areas—Saunders/O’Neil, Hidden Lake, and Marie Selby—remain closed for activities. Efforts continue to restore these spaces; updates will be provided as work advances.
Camp organizers express gratitude for the community’s patience and support, emphasizing that every volunteer effort brings the camp closer to welcoming visitors back fully. Those interested in helping cleanup are encouraged to join the upcoming event.
