Walls of Honor Ceremony to Celebrate American Hero
The Gary Sinise Foundation will host a Walls of Honor Ceremony to honor U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal (Ret.) John “JT” Doody on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 9:00 AM EST in Parrish, Florida. The event will celebrate the ongoing construction of a specially adapted smart home for Doody and his family.
The Walls of Honor Ceremony offers a unique opportunity for community members to write messages of gratitude, love, and appreciation directly on the walls of the new home, symbolizing support and respect for Doody's service and sacrifice. This powerful gesture of community involvement allows personal expressions of thanks to become a permanent part of the home.
The home, designed specifically for Doody’s needs, is being constructed as part of the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) program, which builds specially adapted smart homes for severely wounded heroes across the nation. The Foundation, established by actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, is dedicated to honoring and supporting the nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, and their families through a variety of programs and services.
Lance Corporal Doody, a retired Marine, sustained life-altering injuries while serving his country. The smart home, equipped with advanced technology and accessibility features, will provide him with greater independence and a higher quality of life.
Guests attending the ceremony are encouraged to RSVP in advance by contacting Erika Ertel at RISEEvents@GarySiniseFoundation.org.
The Gary Sinise Foundation continues its mission to serve and honor the nation's heroes through initiatives like the Walls of Honor Ceremony, ensuring that those who have sacrificed so much receive the support and recognition they deserve.
