Water release from Lake Manatee scheduled due to record-breaking rainfall

According to the Manatee County government, following record-breaking rainfall, officials have determined that a precautionary release of water from Lake Manatee is necessary to maintain appropriate water levels. Out of an abundance of caution, a targeted IPAWS alert was sent to citizens down river of the dam. Residents who receive or have received a targeted IPAWS alert are encouraged to leave for a nearby shelter. In the event of a life-threatening situation, individuals should dial 911 immediately.
