Tuesday, July 28
Local Author Event – Palmetto Branch Library
Children and families are invited to meet local authors Kel Sprague and Jessie Marks during a special event from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Palmetto Branch Library, 923 Sixth St. W., Palmetto.
The authors will introduce their newly published children’s book, Sidewalk Magic, which focuses on brain-based healing for children. The afternoon will feature storytimes, crafts and hands-on activities designed for all ages. The free event is sponsored by the Palmetto Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation of Manatee County.
Great Library Picnic – Parrish Community Park
Families can also enjoy the final Great Library Picnic of the summer at Parrish Community Park. Children and teens can receive a free meal while participating in crafts, games and activities provided through a partnership between Manatee County and the School District of Manatee County’s Food and Nutrition Services.
Public Hearing on Community Development Funds
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. regarding the draft 2026-27 Annual Action Plan, proposed use of federal funds and proposed budget. The meeting will take place in the first-floor commission chambers of the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
Thursday, July 30
Water Quality and Drought Town Hall
Residents interested in local environmental issues can attend a community town hall on Water Quality and Drought Conditions beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Myakka Community Center. Registration is required, and county staff will discuss current water quality conditions, drought impacts and answer residents’ questions.
Nature Storytime – Palma Sola Botanical Park
Young readers are invited to a free Nature Storytime from 10 to 11 a.m. at Palma Sola Botanical Park. Designed for preschool and elementary-aged children, the program includes nature-themed books, crafts and outdoor learning activities.
Crafty Critters at Mixon Farms
Families can continue enjoying the weekly Crafty Critters program from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mixon Farms. The Pre-K and elementary-friendly series combines nature lessons, themed crafts and outdoor exploration. The program continues through Aug. 6.
Saturday, August 1
Kingdom Embassy Taco Fest
Kingdom Embassy Church will host its Taco Fest from noon to 6 p.m. at 4850 State Road 64 East, Bradenton. The fundraiser will benefit the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program, with half of the event proceeds supporting the longtime community initiative.
Attendees are encouraged to bring school supply donations for local students attending Manatee and Daughtrey elementary schools. Those who donate supplies will receive an extra taco while supporting local classrooms.
Endless Summer Community Event – Lakewood Ranch YMCA
The Lakewood Ranch YMCA will celebrate the end of summer with a free community event from 9 a.m. to noon. Families can enjoy activities, snacks, giveaways and free school supplies while supplies last. The event also provides an opportunity to learn about YMCA before- and after-school programs and upcoming fall activities.
