Bradenton Attorney Honored for Pro Bono Legal Service
Local attorney Whitney Glaser has been recognized for her dedication to providing free legal services to those in need, earning the prestigious Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award. Glaser, who has volunteered over 295 pro bono hours, was one of 21 attorneys honored in January for her contributions to low-income and disadvantaged clients.
Since founding her law firm in 2018, Glaser has focused on estate planning, probate, and guardianship cases. Her passion for helping families navigate the complexities of guardianship court and advocacy work has been a driving force in her career.
A lifelong Manatee County resident and Bayshore High School alumna, Glaser initially pursued a journalism degree at the University of Florida before following in her father’s footsteps and earning a law degree from Stetson College of Law in 1995. After practicing personal injury litigation, she transitioned into a 15-year teaching career, later returning to law with a renewed commitment to helping others.
Her work in guardianship law began when she assisted with a case involving a vulnerable individual who could no longer care for themselves due to illness or exploitation. Since then, her practice has shifted primarily toward guardianship cases, where she advocates for families navigating the legal process to protect their loved ones.
Glaser’s dedication extends to families of developmentally disabled children and adults who require legal guardianship advocacy. Many families struggle to afford legal representation as their financial resources are directed toward their child’s care. Understanding their challenges, Glaser ensures they receive the legal support they need, guiding them through the judicial system with compassion.
The nomination for her award came from Pam Fields, pro bono manager for Legal Aid of Manasota, who recognized Glaser’s commitment to going above and beyond for her clients. Her recognition at the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee was a moment of inspiration, reinforcing her belief in the importance of pro bono work.
Beyond her legal expertise, Glaser is known for her deep empathy and personal connection with her clients. Whether explaining legal processes, offering reassurance, or simply holding a client’s hand during a difficult moment, she ensures that those she represents feel heard and supported.
Her award is a testament to her unwavering commitment to justice, advocacy, and the belief that everyone deserves legal representation, regardless of their financial situation.
